This Privacy Policy explains how Volt collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use the Volt mobile application ("Volt App"), the Volt Manager venue tool ("Volt Manager"), and our website (together, the "Services"). We are committed to handling your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka (the "PDPA") and other applicable laws.
By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
1. Who we are
Volt is a sports venue booking platform operating in Sri Lanka, connecting players with venues and providing venue owners with management tools. For the purposes of the PDPA, Volt is the "data controller" of the personal data described in this Policy.

2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Players: name, mobile number, email address, neighbourhood/city, your preferred sports, and your booking history.
- Venue owners: your name, the venue's name and location, contact details, the sports and facilities you offer, pricing, slot availability, and bookings taken at your venue (including the names and numbers of customers who book).
- Usage data: basic information about how you interact with the Services, such as device type and pages or features used, collected to keep the Services running and to improve them.
- Communications: the content of enquiries you send us by WhatsApp, email or our forms.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data (such as health, religious or biometric data).
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and venue listing.
- To enable bookings and connect players with venues and other players.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders and service-related messages.
- To provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Services.
- To send you offers and updates where you have agreed to receive them (you can opt out at any time).
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data on the basis of: your consent; the performance of a contract with you (for example, to complete a booking); compliance with a legal obligation; and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, provided these are not overridden by your rights.
5. How we share your information
We share personal data only as necessary:
- With venues: when a player books a slot, we share the player's name and contact number with the relevant venue so the booking can be honoured.
- With service providers: trusted third parties who help us run the Services (such as hosting and, in future, payment processors), under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms.
- For legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, court order or a lawful request from an authority.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Payments
Bookings may currently be settled by cash or bank transfer, with card payments coming soon. When card payments are introduced, card details will be handled by a third-party payment processor and Volt will not store full card numbers on its systems.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. Venue booking records belong to the venue and are retained while the venue uses Volt Manager; venues may request an export of their data at any time.
8. How we protect your data
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to notify you and the relevant authority of any data breach as required under the PDPA.
9. Your rights
Subject to the PDPA, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- object to or request restriction of certain processing; and
- request a copy of your data in a usable format.

11. Children

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last revised, and significant changes will be communicated through the Services.
